Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

I hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas and that 2012 brings you  all that you could want for yourselves and your pets! Please remember that many pets are disturbed by fireworks so keep them in a safe and secure place during the danger period and make sure their tags have a current contact number in case they do get out! Microchips are great, but if Sooty or Spot ends up two streets away in somebody elses yard it is better for all concerned if  somebody can check the tag and ring you directly rather than having to take a frightened Fluffy to the pound to wait for you to come (and pay) with all the other poor lost dogs that did a runner during the big bang!

Paws in the Park

Monday, October 3, 2011

If you would like to have a chat about acupuncture for your dog, or acupuncture for your cat or even acupuncture for your rabbit,  come along and catch up with me at Narellan Town Centre's Paws in the Park at Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park on Sunday 23 October, 9am-1pm

It should be a great day out. Hope to see you there!

Sambo and the Million Paws Walk!

Thursday, May 12, 2011

Sambo is one of my very special patients. Last year he suffered a serious spinal injury, leaving him paralysed. Deb was advised that her best option was to have him put to sleep as he was not expected to make any sort of recovery and it was considered that he would have very poor quality of life. However, Deb is  courageous and devoted  and due mostly to the amount of time and effort she put in to Sambo’s recovery he  has regained a significant amount of movement in his legs and continues to improve week by week. He also runs around in his special wheel chair, plays ball, swims and generally has as happy a life as any dog could ask for! Deb and Sambo are participating in the 2011 Million Paws Walk on the 15th of May to help raise funds for the RSPCA and they would appreciate your support. Happy Easter!

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

I do hope you all had a very restful, extra long, weekend full of all sorts of Easter goodies! I even managed a couple of days off myself this year and did lots of nothing much at all... bit of pottering in the garden, bit of cooking, bit of having folks over for yummy lunches, bit of sleeping in... all good :-)

Happy New Year

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Well another year seems to have come and gone much too fast for my liking! I do hope you all had a peaceful, food filled Christmas and that the New Year is being kind to you. I had a rather quiet Christmas this year but fingers crossed, the New Year is about to bring me a couple of donkeys to add to the family. I'm really quite looking forward to it but they are taking their time... I suspect the universe is trying to teach me patience!

Old Dogs

Thursday, March 25, 2010

When I was a kid my parents used to listen to a song extolling the virtues   of  old dogs and children and watermelon wine. I have to say, I never saw the appeal. As a small person it seemed that old dogs weren’t much fun to play with and always seemed to smell bad, other kids where tolerable but nothing special and watermelon wine just sounded gross!

Some  decades  later I have to say my thoughts have changed somewhat.  I still think (most)  kids are tolerable but I find they aren’t much fun to play with and they often smell bad and after a great deal of close up exposure I have  developed a tremendous appreciation of  old dogs. In fact most of my favourite patients are old dogs. They seem patient and wise and generally don’t seem to stress too much when they forget what they came into the room for. They take their aches and pains in their stride and even when they do get a bit snappy or grumpy it is usually well directed. I think we could learn a lot from them…. and for those of you who might be wondering, I still think watermelon wine sounds gross!!

February Already???

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Time flies when you’re having fun… or something like that.

I seem to have misplaced January somewhere… perhaps I should check behind the couch.

I do have some good news to report.  Late last year I took on the care of a small lamb that had been paralysed by tetanus. She was originally not able to eat on her own or get up at all… but after some fantastic care from her fabulous vet, Bernice Blom,  and quite a bit of Acupuncture from yours truly, I am pleased to announce that she is up and about and running around like nothing was ever wrong with her. Guess I won't be needing to rush out and buy a lawn mower any time soon!

Happy New Year!!!

Wednesday, December 30, 2009

Goodness me, another year seems to have flashed by when I wasn't paying attention!! I do hope you and your dogs and cats and bunnies and other assorted furred and feathered family had a truly lovely Christmas. I had a rather exciting Chritmas Lunch experience with the fabulous folks from the Mulgoa Vet Clinic. After eating just a touch too much whilst deftly avoiding the jaffas that a small child had licked and put back in the bowl, I got to cuddle a Puma and pat a six month old Tiger.... yes, a real one!!! Not your average sunday lunch ;-) Wishing you all a very Happy New Year.
