February Already???
Wednesday, February 3, 2010
Time flies when you’re having fun… or something like that.
I seem to have misplaced January somewhere… perhaps I should check behind the couch.
I do have some good news to report. Late last year I took on the care of a small lamb that had been paralysed by tetanus. She was originally not able to eat on her own or get up at all… but after some fantastic care from her fabulous vet, Bernice Blom, and quite a bit of Acupuncture from yours truly, I am pleased to announce that she is up and about and running around like nothing was ever wrong with her. Guess I won't be needing to rush out and buy a lawn mower any time soon!
Happy New Year!!!
Wednesday, December 30, 2009
Goodness me, another year seems to have flashed by when I wasn't paying attention!! I do hope you and your dogs and cats and bunnies and other assorted furred and feathered family had a truly lovely Christmas. I had a rather exciting Chritmas Lunch experience with the fabulous folks from the Mulgoa Vet Clinic. After eating just a touch too much whilst deftly avoiding the jaffas that a small child had licked and put back in the bowl, I got to cuddle a Puma and pat a six month old Tiger.... yes, a real one!!! Not your average sunday lunch ;-) Wishing you all a very Happy New Year.

Big Year for a Small Car!!
Wednesday, October 21, 2009
What an exciting year for a small green Daihatsu, carting an enormous camellia plant that reached from the boot door to the windscreen all the way from Glebe to Buxton, collecting tons of plants and compost and garden mix from nurseries all over Sydney to build a fabulous native garden, being driven by a strange man the wrong way up city streets past police road blocks during Mardi Gras and finally clicking over to 500,000 kms!!! But sadly, nothing lasts forever and after five years of spending more time on the road than the Leyland brothers it’s time for at least one of us to retire, so the Pyzar is resting comfortably in a retyrement village for well worn cars and I’m travelling all over the country side in new set of wheels known to her friends as Marilyn Mitsubishi!
Good News For Marilyn
Friday, August 14, 2009
Those of you who keep up with the news will remember Marilyn the five-year-old spotted mist (cat) who was looking for a new home after her devoted owner passed away.
Well, I’m very happy to say she found one!!!
She is now happily ensconced in a fabulous new home in Sydney’s Southern Highlands and loving it!! Congratulations and thanks to her new family Vicki and Kevin and very big thanks to Olivia’s Mum, Leone for playing kitty matchmaker…. All in all a fantastic match and the kind of happy ending I love.
RIP Brandy
Thursday, June 11, 2009
Pets come into my care at various stages in their lives with a wide variety of injuries or ailments and very many of them stay under my care in one way or another for the rest of their lives, whether that is weeks, months or years. So it is no surprise that I am often faced with the passing of a patient, and while it is always a very sad time, especially for the family, it is very rarely a complete surprise. So when a long-standing patient passes unexpectedly it is always an awful shock, such is the case with the recent passing of Brandy.
Although Brandy had some serious health issues, she had been looking really well and appeared to be thriving, due I’m sure, to the excellent care she received from her devoted owner, Jo. Brandy was a lucky dog, a loving and loyal dog and she has left a large hole that is unlikely to ever be truly filled. She will be sadly missed by Jo and the rest of her fur family, Buster, Bailey and Mishka (and by her acupuncturist).
Hop, Hop, Hoppy Easter!!!
Monday, April 13, 2009
My Easter weekend started with discovering one of the hens had hatched two new chickens…. very cute!!! It then became a blurr of digging and planting in the new native garden, weeding and watering the vege patch and cleaning the fish tank, all interspersed with visits from family and friends and of course… much chocolate!!
I do hope yours was equally as full of good things!
Sad News
Monday, April 13, 2009
Smokey the cat has passed away after a valiant struggle with paralysis and complications related to eating irradiated cat food. He will be sadly missed by his owners and his sister Ginger. On a happier note, Ginger, who is also affected, is making some positive progress and now has good movement in her front legs.
New Addition
Wednesday, April 1, 2009
We have a new addition to the brood of beasties here at Buxton. His name is Atticus, No…. he isn’t a finch… he’s a Maremma Sheepdog puppy.
Maremmas bond to flocks and protect them from predators and his domain will be the house paddock where he will be responsible for looking after poultry, pets and people!
At the moment he is taking lessons from his great, great, great, great grandmother, Princess, who will hopefully teach him to become ‘Atticus- Defender of the Flock’ rather than his current position of ‘Atticus- Annoyer of the Cat’.
